Genesus is pleased to announce a locally produced marketing and product use agreement with Taaibosh Piggery of Fochville, South Africa for the territory of Africa commencing June 1st, 2022. Taaibosch operates a 2,200 head sow unit, nursery, grow-finish, nucleus, AI station and feed mill, Facilities further extend to their Gene Transfer Centre with an Artificial Insemination (AI) Laboratory. They use the latest mobile semen technology, which will provide fresh semen to their breeding unit and future Genesus customers on a scheduled, on-demand basis.

They have been supplying the processors in Gauteng and in the North West of South Africa for more than 40 years. In their path to producing the best quality pork they chose Genesus to be their genetic supplier with the first shipment arriving on the July 28th, 2020, they have been receiving our genetics by importing regular shipments of Genesus frozen semen, this has proven very successful. At the helm of Taaibosch Piggery is dynamic husband and wife team, CP and Gerda Kriek.

The plan is to have the Nucleus and Multiplication herd of Yorkshire, Landrace and Duroc operating at 500 females as soon as possible as currently there are around 300 females. 100% of the GGP mating’s will be carried out using frozen semen from the Genesus Canadian AI stud to maximise the genetic gains, receive the genomic benefits and minimise the inbreeding.

Genesus appreciates all the work Paul Anderson of Genesus did in getting this partnership signed on June 1st, 2022 with CP Kriek. Genesus looks forward to working with Taaibosch Piggery to grow our business throughout Africa where there is massive opportunity for growth going forward in this developing market.
